Andrea Artunduaga

Andrea is a Journalist from the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil in Ecuador, where she had the chance to work for different media outlets such as newspapers, television networks and radio broadcasting, gaining experience within the Ecuadorian political and social sphere. Simultaneously, she volunteered as an English Teacher at Sor Dominga Bocca Foundation in Guayaquil.

Andrea has a Master’s Degree in Global Media Communication from the University of Melbourne in Australia, where she was chosen as Student Ambassador and had the opportunity to represent her course institution wide and coordinated events in order to receive incoming international students such as herself.

Throughout her career, she has worked for the private sector as well as the Ecuadorian government within the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Education. Writing, editing, reporting and elaborating media content are just a few of her areas of expertise.

During the last two years, Andrea served as a Communications Officer for Emergencies for UNICEF Ecuador, focusing her work throughout Ecuador’s 7.8 earthquake affected areas in Manabí and Esmeraldas. Providing coverage of special events, conducting research, and editing communicational material for advocacy, social mobilization and resource mobilization activities, with an emphasis on UNICEF National Committees, served as a main vehicle to raise awareness about children’s situation in the earthquake affected areas, raise financial resources and maintain UNICEF donors’ informed.

Currently, Andrea works as a freelance journalist, owns a small business that uses recycled material for corporate event decor and serves as the Communication Specialist for Ecoglobal Solutions.
